Embracing the Power of Perch – By joining us, you’re not just attending a workshop or course—you’re becoming a part of something greater.

At Perch, we remain steadfast in our commitment to making a meaningful impact, empowering educators. For every workshop and Kaleidoscope Colour Therapy Practitioner Course confirmed, we pledge to donate $10 and $50 respectively. This initiative is deeply personal to the founder, Karen Maylon, as she cherishes the memory of her involvement with P.A.C.E (Programme of Action for Educators and Children) in the 80s in her hometown.

One poignant project that touched her heart was the Toy Library at King Edward VIII Hospital Children’s Ward. Amidst the challenges, Karen encountered a remarkable 9-year-old girl who had spent years in the hospital, separated from her family. Despite her circumstances, she radiated joy, resilience, and gratitude, teaching Karen invaluable lessons about the power of mindset.
This experience underscores our belief that happiness and success stem from perspective and resilience.
In 2023, Dr. Julia Ambler graced the Sunshine Coast with her presence, journeying all the way from South Africa. There, she spoke passionately at a fundraiser for Umduduzi, an organization devoted to children’s palliative care. This remarkable organisation, entirely donor-funded, continues to make an impact, particularly at the King Edward VIII Children’s Ward now renamed the Victoria Mxenge Hospital.
Karen was deeply moved to hear Dr. Ambler’s account of the work they do, including ‘Make a Wish’ supporting the hospital, providing a new play space for these resilient children in need of constant care. Witnessing the dedication of individuals like Dr. Ambler and her team filled Karen with hope and gratitude.
Together, we can touch the lives of these extraordinary children, ensuring they receive the medical care, support, and love they deserve from Umduduzi in KwaZulu-Natal, South Africa.”
